Cook with your kids.
I grew up in the kitchen with my mom. She taught me most everything I know. The rest, I learned from Food Network.
When I had children of my own, I loved being in the kitchen with them. They loved to help. I loved teaching. My daughter has been cooking with me since she was tiny. We still enjoy cooking together today. My son will kick it around a little. But, he really prefers for mama to do the cookin’. Which I’m happy to do.
I love being in the kitchen with little ones still to this day. Every now and again, my friends will bring their babies over, drop them off, and we cook together.
This little cutie is a friend’s daughter. I love that she watches my stories on Instagram. I love that she has a passion for cooking at such a young age. It makes my heart happy to know that I inspire her in some small way. I hope she remembers cooking with me and keeps going and learning with her mama.
The moral of the story is…teach your children to cook. Let them help in the kitchen—even if it’s harder and messier. You will cherish the memories you will make together and you will be giving them a skill that will last a lifetime.
